The semantics of the void in two novels: Gone with the dreams by Jurga Ivanauskaitė and Chapaev and Void by Victor Pelevin: from the perspective of contemporary Lithuanian literature

The purpose of this article is to understand the reason for popularity books by writer Victor Pelevin (b. 1962) in Lithuania. Pelevin’s internationally popular novel, Chapaev and Void (aka clay machine-gun; Buddha’s little finger) (Russian, 1996; Lithuanian 1998, 2007; English, 2000) focusing on Buddhist issues, was published twice; both editions were sold out. In article, it will be compared with novel Gone dreams (2000, 2007) one most authors contemporary literature, Jurga Ivanauskaitė (1961–2007). Both are same generation who have experienced a similar atmosphere late Soviet period reflected sensibilities their world after collapse Union; they studied Tibetan Buddhism. two novels chosen comparative analysis marked similarly emphasised philosophical idea void. reviews development Oriental discourse culture literature before started writing. goal short is, first, underscore shared relevant contents discourse.
